Plaster & Cement-Based Surfaces
At Mid-America our skilled tradesmen use the traditional method of hand-applying two coats of plaster, working the material to create a smooth surface at the ideal thickness. This flat, smooth, hand-troweled finish provides the water-tightness needed for a perfect swimming pool surface.
Surface preparation is the most important phase of the plastering process, assuring good adhesion of the plaster to the pool base. This is done by 40,000 PSI ultra-high-pressure water jetting, called Hydro-Blasting, removing all layers of paint-coatings and deteriorated materials. Cement-based surfaces such as plaster are not prone to flaking, peeling, or chalking like swimming pool paints.
Plaster finishes can be applied in a wide variety of different colors, in addition to white, and tends to be the most economical surface interior option we offer.

Fun fact: Did you know that cement-based plaster has been used in water containment systems for centuries? The Romans were among the first, using plaster to line their pools and aqueduct systems.
