Mid-America Pool Renovation performed an emergency pool rooftop renovation at the Sheraton Hotel at Crown Center after a 2013 cold snap caused the concrete shell to suffer from severe thermal shock. The pool, situated directly above the hotel’s main kitchen, developed cracks that allowed melting snow to leak into the food preparation area below, forcing the kitchen to close. To save the hotel’s holiday season, our team worked through freezing temperatures to stabilize the structure and restore the facility in record time.
The primary objectives were to stop water intrusion into the kitchen, repair the fractured concrete shell, and provide a long-term watertight finish.
The hotel selected the INTER-GLASS® Surface System for its superior ability to seal cracks and provide a durable, polymeric barrier.
The combination of frigid outdoor temperatures and the heated kitchen directly underneath created a temperature differential that literally cracked the pool’s foundation.
