Cooperative purchasing contract gives eligible government, education, and nonprofit organizations a streamlined purchasing option for restoring existing pools.

GRANDVIEW, MO., November 2026 -Mid-America Pool Renovations, Inc. (MAPR), a family-owned swimming pool renovation specialist based in the Kansas City area, has been awarded a Sourcewell cooperative purchasing contract for Swimming Pool Renovation and Repair Services following a competitive request-for-proposals process.

The award gives eligible government, education, and nonprofit organizations, including municipalities, parks and recreation departments, school districts, colleges and universities, tribal governments, military installations, YMCAs, and other public agencies, access to MAPR’s specialized renovation services through a competitively solicited contract with pre-negotiated pricing and terms.

Sourcewell is a self-funded governmental organization established in 1978. Its cooperative purchasing program combines the purchasing power of participating agencies to help government, educational, and nonprofit organizations purchase products and services more efficiently. Eligible organizations can use Sourcewell-awarded contracts as a purchasing option, subject to their applicable procurement requirements.

“For many communities, the pool is an important gathering place and a significant public investment,” said Austin Kateusz, president of Mid-America Pool Renovations. “We help facility owners understand what can be repaired, what needs to be updated, and how to plan for the years ahead. This contract gives eligible organizations a more straightforward way to access that expertise.”

Founded in 1987, MAPR specializes exclusively in renovating existing swimming pools. Its services include interior resurfacing, structural repairs, tile and coping replacement, deck resurfacing, plumbing and circulation improvements, and accessibility upgrades.

The company has completed thousands of renovation projects across 36 states, including Alaska and Hawaii, as well as Guam. MAPR serves both residential and commercial customers, including homeowners, municipalities, school districts, colleges and universities, military installations, YMCAs, and other aquatic facility owners.

MAPR works with facility teams to assess existing conditions, establish renovation priorities, and plan improvements around budgets, operating needs, and seasonal schedules. Organizations considering the Sourcewell contract can contact MAPR to discuss their project and obtain information for their purchasing team’s review.

Even a well-maintained pool can develop stains or algae problems over time. And while water chemistry, filtration, and routine cleaning are essential, the characteristics of the pool’s interior surface can also influence how easily it stays clean.

Traditional plaster and other cement-based finishes have porous surfaces. As these materials age, their texture can become rougher, creating areas where stains and algae are more difficult to remove.
