Project Outline

Mid-America Pool Renovation spearheaded a transformative restoration of the 1967 municipal pool in the City of Stanberry, proving that older commercial structures can be modernized into high-end aquatic centers. Our team executed a full-facility pool restoration to integrate a brand-new zero-depth entry and advanced mechanical systems, providing the community with a contemporary facility at a fraction of the cost of new construction.

Project Specifications:

Challenges Solved

  • Concrete Gutter Failure:  The existing gutter system was riddled with degradation and leakage; cutting it away revealed the use of shrinkage aggregates in the original 1960s mix.
  • Structural Reconstruction:  The entire 80-foot shallow end wall and all existing pool decking were removed to make way for a modern 45-foot-long zero-depth entry.
  • Subsurface Moisture:  To ensure the longevity of the new deck, both subsurface and deck drains were strategically planned and added during the pour.
  • Expansion Joint Integrity:  Challenging expansion joint areas required meticulous rebuilding to meet modern engineering jointing requirements.

Special Considerations

  • Non-Intrusive Testing:  Before work began, a Schmidt Hammer test and core sampling were performed to verify the compressive strength of the existing shell.
  • Material Strengthening:  Concrete densifiers were applied to the original walls to fortify the structure before the final finish.
  • Infrastructure Overhaul:  The project included the installation of new dual fiberglass filters and high-efficiency recirculation pumps.
  • High-Performance Finish:  The renovation concluded with the application of the INTER-GLASS® system, ensuring a seamless, watertight interior.

From Our Team

“Many older commercial swimming pools remain structurally sound even after decades of use and abuse… They look to a major renovation as an alternative.”
