In 2012, Mid-America Pool Renovation restored the competition pool at Longview Community College, which had been plagued by a failing “cover-up” PVC membrane installed in 2006. The previous membrane-based solution failed within four months of its initial installation, leading to years of unsightly patches and structural issues.
The primary objective was to replace the failing, unbonded membrane with a permanent, fully-bonded resurfacing system to eliminate water accumulation under the liner and restore the pool’s professional appearance.
The college moved away from membrane liners in favor of the INTER-GLASS® system to achieve a durable, high-performance finish suitable for a competition environment.
The original decision to use a PVC membrane over a fully-bonded system in 2006 was based on a bid difference of only $1,018.
